The Night House is a good movie with a bad ending. I see many such films in the horror genre lately and I wonder what has gone wrong every time. How come the studios are giving creative freedom but fuck up the ending? Why?
Anyway, Rebecca Hall is fantastic and there are a few excellent scenes with perfect dialogue writing and performance. The horror elements are connected to the protagonist's personal story and grief, so it's good and effective. But only the first horror sequence actually scared me.
With a better ending it would have been an excellent film. Pity...
