I had high expectations about this one but I was disappointed.
For some reason it received a lot of good reviews. Don't get me wrong, some things are good here: acting, a few effective jump-scares and the main title's animation & sound design (that's the best thing in this movie actually).
But overall the story was not original, I've seen variations on that story thousand of times before and the movie was very predictable.
The smile itself was not very creepy, I can see how it would have been better if a non-hollywood production had done it (I would love to watch a Japanese version of it for example).
I'm probably not going to remember I saw it in a few days.
Verdict: 2.5 / 5 ★ - Mediocre.
