Kids - (1988)

Director: Larry Clark.

Overrated?

I felt like the story is simplistic and not very interesting. The casting and acting are wonderful and that's the only thing i really liked about this movie.

New York in the 90s looks like a fun place, maybe like Berlin before the pandemic and gentrification?

Also, I don't like films that try to be realistic, i always feel "realistic" films are super fake. But someone's realism is someone else's dream, and teenage life in 90's NYC is so far from my own life experiences that it felt sometimes like someone else's dream. So... i like it even though it was hyper realistic.

Verdict: 3 / 5 ★ - Okay.
