Eternal Summer - (2006)

Director: Leste Chen.

I don't remember how I came across this film, I might have read somewhere it's a critically acclaimed Taiwanese bisexual something and decided to bookmark it...

Regardless of my personal opinion, it's a good film that worth your time.

During the entire watch I couldn't stop thinking about how Taiwanese cinema is so similar to Israeli cinema (I said it many times before). More so, I was thinking a lot about cinema education in film schools.

I wonder how film students are being educated to make the exact same movie in the exact same genre - from screenwriting to camera work, to editing and music. It's exactly the same.

And it's no fun to watch.

It's a type of filmmaking that is convinced it's better than anything else, it's full of self importance and pompousness. And at the same time it lacks so much entertainment and fun cinematic moments (set pieces).

I have so many questions about it...

Anyway, watch it if you can, it's not a waste of time but it's also not great.

Verdict: 2.5 / 5 ★ - Average.
