AKIRA - 6 Graphic Novels (1982 - 1990)

Author: Katsuhiro Otomo.

I finally finished reading the full saga of the AKIRA manga.

It's not only huge in volume, but it's also the most epic, action-packed and deep graphic novel series I've ever read.

It goes without saying, this is a huge recommendations, and I'm a big fan.

The art work is truly awe-inspiring, I don't know how Otomo can illustrated so well, it's almost like he rotoscoped a multi-million dollar CGI film.

Not only Otomo masters illustrating destructions on a massive scale, he is also extremely sensitive when drawing characters' anatomy and facial expressions.

And on top of that, he masters storytelling in every aspect.

A truly scary amount of talent he has...

One of the things I found most inspiring is the way AKIRA flows: the framing, the cut scenes and the overall cinematic experience. It's the best storyboard of a film that should never exist (besides the 1988 Anima)

Verdict: 5 / 5 ★ - Monumental.
